One of the possibilities, how to create a negative voltage, is to use a charge pump. There already exist specialised integrated circuits suitable for this purpose

=== __Power inverter__ ===

One of the limitations of the charge pump is the impossibility to obtain larger supply currents. The problem can be solved using a transformer and connection, that will make the input DC voltage 

Omezením nábojové pumpu je obvykle nemožnost získat větší napájecí proudy. To lze řešit použitím transformátoru a zapojením,které rozstřídá vstupní stejnosměrné napětí. Vzhledem k tomu, že toto napětí mlže být střídáno na podstatně vyšších frekvencích než je běžných 50Hz, tak rozměry transformátoru mohou být při stejných výkonech podstatně menší. Vyšší frekvence pak navíc umožňuje zmenšit vyhlazovací kapacity. 

Navíc v případě, že vstupní stejnosměrný potenciál je na vinutí transformátoru komutován sinusově, tak je značně potlačena možnost vyzařování rušení na rozdíl od klasického spínaného zdroje. 

Použití transformátoru navíc přináší výhodu, že výstupní napájení může být galvanicky oddělené od vstupního.
